Standard drill sizes for handles
When replacing furniture handles, the center-to-center distance is important. This is the distance between the center of the two screw holes. By choosing the correct size, you can often install new handles without drilling extra holes in your cabinet doors or drawers.
Common center-to-center sizes are:
- 96 mm – widely used for kitchen cabinets and furniture.
- 128 mm – a popular size for slightly larger handles.
- 160 mm – suitable for larger cabinet doors and drawers.
- 192 mm – a longer handle that fits well on wide fronts.
There are also various other sizes available. Therefore, always measure the existing handle before ordering new ones.
Tip: measure from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other screw hole. If you measure from the outside of the holes or the handle itself, the size may differ.
Do you want to use a different center-to-center size? It is often possible to drill new holes, but check in advance whether the new position looks good on the furniture front.
