Before you start, it's helpful to have these items ready:

A mild cleaning agent such as dishwashing liquid, green soap or a solution of vinegar and water;
A soft (microfiber) cloth or sponge;
An old toothbrush (for the nooks and crannies);
A dry cloth to wipe off;
If necessary, use a stainless steel polish for extra shine;

Caution: Never use abrasives, acidic cleaning agents (such as baking soda or lemon), or scouring pads. These can damage or discolor the stainless steel.

Step 1: Clean the door fitting with mild soapy water
