The backset is the distance from the front of the forend to the center of the handle hole. For this black mortise lock, this is 50 mm , which is the standard for most Dutch interior doors. How to turn the latch of a black mortise lock

1. Using a flat screwdriver, press the cover plate upwards into the slot-shaped recess on the side.

2. The latch now jumps out immediately.

3. Simply turn the bolt manually to the desired position.

4. Push the latch bolt back into the housing and the lock is ready for installation!
