If the door backplate isn't properly centered over the cylinder lock, lateral pressure will be exerted on the cylinder. This can lead to a hard-to-turn key and rapid wear of the cam. Therefore, I recommend first loosely inserting the cylinder into the lock, then fitting the door hardware hand-tight. Only when everything turns smoothly should you finally tighten the cylinder bolt.
